Week 4 - Introduction of Capella Software, Produce Context Diagram of The Mini Cleaning Robot, and Swapping Function with Other Group

This week, my lecturer, Sir Zaki, gave a briefing on introducing Capella software and a tutorial on how to use it. This session covers four main steps: installation, workspace, user interface, and a new Capella project. At the same time, he also gave a briefing on the work breakdown structure (WBS), which is very important to ensure the production of projects with complex systems runs smoothly. After that, my lecturer suggested swapping systems from each group with other groups because some systems were not fully functional without the other systems. For example, vacuum and mop systems cannot be separated, and existing cleaning products certainly have both systems on the market. After discussing how to swap the system with other groups, our group now has a new system: the battery indicator system, which has been replaced with the previous system, the air filter system. All systems swapping with other groups are listed in a context diagram to show each system included in the Mini Cleaning Robot.

Week 3 - Continue Discussion on 'Mini Cleaning Robot' Assessment and Flow Chart Exercise

This week, our group will continue the discussion of this "mini cleaning robot" task. Qamarul, as my group partner, will manage the movement system while I handle the air filter system. Therefore, I researched this air filter system, including the basic hardware, circuit diagram, procedure's operation, basic coding, and examples of previous projects involving this system. Also this week, my lecturer, Sir Zaki, gave us a training assignment to make a flow chart based on a video of the roselle jam-making process. This aims to explain the difference between project engineering and systems engineering in terms of complex systems.

 

Week 2 - Project Assessment Introduction and Function Discussion

During this week, the title selection for the project assignment that will be produced for each group was discussed and finalized: "Mini Cleaning Robot" for this semester. Therefore, I formed a group with my classmate Qamarul and established the group name QS. Back to the project assignment: each group was given a robot project that had been produced last semester and had to innovate by adding cleaning features and different systems. To make it easier for all parties, my group and others held a brainstorming session to discuss ideas for adding system features to the robot. As a result of the discussion session, our group decided to produce a movement system that includes autonomous and manual control and add an air filter system as a cleaning feature. Also, my lecturer, Sir Zaki, shared some lessons from Chapter 1 of the book System Engineering For Dummies this week.

Week 1 - Introduction of Sistem Engineering

In this first week, we were given a briefing on the course learning outcomes (CLO) for the System Engineering subject covered by my lecturer, Sir Zaki. In addition, he also introduced and explained what systems engineering is, including the definition of systems, systems engineering, traditional engineering disciplines, and project management. At the same time, he also introduced the tool that we will use throughout learning this subject: the Capella software. This week, my lecturer has also given me exposure to examples of projects that have been done in the last semester that we will do throughout this semester. This subject is project-based. This semester, we will only focus on project planning tasks, production, and implementation. So with that, my lecturer gave us space to discuss whether we wanted to do the same project as last semester or develop our own idea. In the meantime, he also shared a book titled "System Engineering for Dummies, " a reference, guide, and learning material that we will learn during this learning period. To begin with, my lecturer instructed us to read the book for at least this week's chapter 1.
